FCO blogging platform: global conversations

UK Foreign Office Blogs

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has launched a new blogging platform.

This is a new platform for UK Ministers to engage in a dialogue about international affairs and the work of the FCO. To begin with there will be six bloggers including Foreign Secretary David Miliband, and Europe Minister Jim Murphy, as well as staff from throughout the organisation. The FCO has also launched a new YouTube video channel and Flickr photo account.

On the 5th June President Christofias and Foreign Minister Kyprianou met with Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the Foreign Secretary David Milliband in London. During their meeting the PM offered his full support to President Christofias' work in seeking a solution to the Cyprus Problem, saying that it was right to seek a solution "by Cypriots, for Cypriots". Both leaders also stressed their desire to improve relations between the two countries and build on the strong people-to-people relations. To reinforce this Mr Brown and Mr Christofias announced that they had signed a memorandum of understanding, setting out areas of mutual co-operation and ensuring the two countries build a "strong, forward-looking and modern relationship".
