The High Commission in Kingston is responsible for coverage of The Bahamas as well as Jamaica, on all matters except for visa applications. Residents of The Bahamas who require visas should contact the British Consulate General in New York.

The Global Opportunities Fund - now the Strategic Programme Fund - was established in 2003. In 2006-2007 four more programmes were added: Afghan Counter-Narcotics, Drugs and Crime, Overseas Territories and the Migration Programmes.

 

These worked alongside the six existing programmes - Climate Change and Energy, Counter Terrorism, Economic Governance, Engaging with the Islamic World, Reuniting Europe and Sustainable Development - to deliver almost 950 projects.
